Applications

Simple and reproducible

Displacement of sample by dense chase solution allows harvesting of the entire sample without any residual volume.

Precise & semi-automated

Using precise pumps of the FPLC/HPLC device allow for continuous displacement of sample. Fractionation via host system provides utmost control to precisely collect your samples.

Fast & leak-free

Improved pressure seals at the siFractor allow high flow rates (>4iml/min) and rapid fractionation.

Fractionation of centrifuged samples

Manual fractionation of samples contained in centrifugation tubes is laborious, and error-prone. Parameters such as light absorbance are typically monitored from the isolated fractions, thus limiting resolution. Hence, precise isolation of the molecules of interest from the centrifugation tube without contaminations is hampered. With the siFractor, you can overcome these limitations and much more.

Applications of the siFractor

  • Structural biology: Isolation of protein complexes and RNPs
  • Exosome research: Purification of extracellular vesicles
  • Translatome studies: Ribosome profiling (Ribo-Seq)

Customer testimonials

"Due to its robust construction, the siFractor is much easier to handle than the device that we previously used for gradient fractionation (ISCO system). The quality of the separation was also very good in our experiments. The big advantage is that you don't have to buy all the components, i.e. pump, UV lamp and fractionator, as with other fractionation systems, but can use all of these components from the Äkta. This not only saves a lot of money, but also space."

Dr. Brigitte Pertschy (Group Leader, Institute of Molecular Biosciences, University of Graz, Austria)

"The siFractor D14-SW41 has been a great addition to our lab. The equipment is incredibly easy to use and sturdy. The tube piercing unit integrates seamlessly with our FPLC system, with no issues of leakage. The quality of the fractionation and separation was also very good, making the entire process efficient and reliable. Overall, it is a high-quality and dependable tool for labs interested in ribosome profiling."
