Pan-Plant riboPOOL

The Pan-Plant riboPOOL is designed to efficiently remove ribosomal RNA (rRNA) from plants RNA samples. The product is compatible with most downstream applications, including different next generation sequencing workflows (both short and long-read sequencing).

The Pan-Plant riboPOOL is optimized for high-quality and intact (RIN > 7) RNA samples.

The Pan-Plant riboPOOL covers the following sequences:

28S rRNA Cytosolic Yes
18S  rRNA Cytosolic Yes
5.8S rRNA Cytosolic Yes
5S rRNA Cytosolic Yes
26S rRNA Mitochondrial Yes
18S rRNA Mitochondrial Yes

Plants play pivotal roles in ecosystems, providing oxygen, food, shelter, and contributing to the balance of various natural processes. RNA-Seq in plants facilitates the comparison of gene expression between different plant tissues, developmental stages, and various conditions, such as stress, disease, or different environmental stimuli. Prominent plant model organisms include Arabidopsis thaliana, Oryza sativa, and others.

The Pan-Plant riboPOOL was designed using the rRNA sequences from these species as templates:

Arabidopsis thaliana
Beta vulgaris
Chenopodium quinoa
Citrus sinensis
Coffea arabica
Cucumis sativus
Cynara cardunculus
Daucus carota
Dendrobium catenatum

Elaeis guineensis
Eucalyptus grandis
Glycine max
Gossypium hirsutum
Helianthus annuus
Jatropha curcas
Malus domestica
Nelumbo nucifera
Nymphaea colorata

Olea europaea
Oryza sativa
Papaver somniferum
Populus trichocarpa
Prunus persica
Setaria italica
Solanum tuberosum
Vitis vinifera
Zea mays

Benefits of using riboPOOLs for multiple species rRNA depletion

  • Enzyme-free, fast & easy workflow
  • Compatible with most downstream applications
  • Wide range of input RNA amounts
  • Possibility of combining with other riboPOOLs
  • Compatible with lab automated workflows

Pan-Plant riboPOOL Performance

The Pan-Plant riboPOOL consistently removes > 90% of rRNA from total RNA samples originating from different flowering plants species (Figure 1). The riboPOOL is designed to target different conserved regions of each rRNA, ensuring high wide taxonomic coverage across the group.

Pan-Plant Taxonomic Coverage

The Pan-Plant riboPOOL is designed for efficient ribodepletion in plants. Pan-Plant riboPOOL probes have been mapped against rRNA sequences of more than 100 plant species to ensure uniform coverage across the taxon.
